This dashboard is made of wood. The gauges are original from 1978. They all work. The steering wheel has changed over time. The turn signal controls are from a 1968 bus. When my dad first got the car it had a crappy car radio hanging from the dashboard along with 2 very old house speakers hanging behind the dashboard on the firewall. The wiring behind the firewall consisted of 2 colors, red and white. Nothing was striped or labeled.
The woods condition was very poor. It had been exposed directly to weather for decades. I spent some time taking a few layers off the front to remove years of scratches and dirt. I sanded, stained and gave it some TLC. I could have started from scratch but I am trying to keep as much of the original vehicle as possible. This was a chore but the end result was well worth it.
Below are some before and after pictures of the work. I recently replaced the turn signal switch but the orignal and new one look the exact same.
